Sailing areas in Greece
The Greek Islands are divided into the five areas - the Cyclades; Saronic Islands; Dodecanese Islands; Sporades and the Ionian Islands. All offer different sailing experiences and the opportunity to explore some of the many different islands. Sailing routes should be chosen to match your desired itinerary and experience.Typically the Ionic Islands provide the calmest waters and most sheltered sailing – great for beginners but less challenging for experienced sailors. The Cyclades with its shifting winds suit more experienced sailors and offers some of the most challenging sailing found in the Greek waters.
The Saronic Gulf offers a great mix of sailing conditions and host of islands that are fast becoming a new favorite for those in search of something outside the Ionian Islands. The Sporades and Dodecanese offers fantastic sailing and a combination of more well know popular island destinations alongside secluded gems and white sandy beaches ripe for exploring.
Vindcharter operates customised sailing packages throughout the Dodecanese, bareboat hire and other skippered charter options throughout other sailing areas of Greece.
